For 2017, Cinco de Mayo falls on Friday, May 5. If you love Mexican-themed food and drinks, this is your day! It’s pretty easy to find Mexican restaurants offering special Cinco de Mayo deals, freebies, and promotions on this day. Some stores and shopping malls get into the spirit with Cinco de Mayo sales of their own. Discounted, free, or 2-for-1 tacos, enchiladas, burritos, nachos, and special lunch or dinner menus are all common on May 5. Because Cinco de Mayo falls on a Friday this year, there’s a good chance these promotions will extend into the weekend and/or for several days preceding the holiday.
Cinco de Mayo dining and shopping hours are usually the same as they would be on any other Friday. Because Cinco de Mayo is not a federal holiday, banks, schools, libraries, USPS Post Office, liquor stores, etc., should all be open with normal hours of operation. Just as St. Patrick’s Day is a fun “party” holiday when everyone’s a wee bit Irish, Cinco de Mayo is the same, but with a Mexican theme. Be sure to call your favorite stores and restaurants to ask about specific Cinco de Mayo sales and deals they may be offering on May 5.
Don’t miss the party! Cinco de Mayo only comes once per year. For 2017, it happens on Friday, May 5.
