GROCERY STORES are OPEN on New Year’s Day.

GOVERNMENT OFFICES are CLOSED on New Year’s Day. Nearly all federal, state, county, and city agencies are closed on January 1.

LIQUOR STORES may be OPEN or CLOSED on New Year’s Day. This depends on which state and/or city you are located in. Some areas allow alcoholic beverages to be sold on January 1st while others prohibit sales.

MOVIE THEATERS are OPEN on New Year’s Day. Many theatres have additional holiday show times scheduled for January 1.

PHARMACIES & DRUG STORES are OPEN on New Year’s Day. However, the actual pharmacy may be closed or operating reduced hours.

POST OFFICE (USPS) is CLOSED on New Year’s Day. There is no mail delivery on January 1.

SHOPPING MALLS AND MALL ANCHOR STORES are OPEN on New Year’s Day.
